\n\tMutant mice and wild-type controls (2 female and 2 males/group) receive 1.5% dextran sodium sulphate (DSS) in drinking water for 7 days.
\n\n\tWeights are recorded daily and any mice that have lost greater than 20% or that exhibit clinical signs are sacrificed.
\n\n\tAt day 10 mice are sacrificed and samples from the medial and distal gut are collected for histological analysis.
\n\n\tA pathology scoring system is used to assess the effect of the DSS in a blinded manner.
